Central Buganda University is located 96 km west of Kampala, the capital of Uganda. It is 15 km north of the Equator in an underdeveloped rural area of Uganda. There is no industry except the growing of some coffee. Most of the citizens are subsistence farmers. The climate is good and there are twelve hours of daylight year round.

History

The University was started as a mission project in February 2000 by Dr. John Veldhuis, a volunteer in mission of the Anglican Church of Canada. The university fills the need for higher education for qualified students, teachers and clergy. In turn, the graduates of Central Buganda University provide education to the rural people, allowing them to escape the cycle of poverty so prevalent in the area.

Students

On February 2000 the first students were enrolled in the college of theology, and they were soon joined by students in education, agriculture, and business administration. The University now has over 300 students and is growing quickly, supplying quality education at an affordable cost.
